Vue: World’s First Everyday Wear Smart Glasses

A while ago, Google Glasses got our hopes up for a new world of augmented reality eyewear. But they were eventually buried. But it turns out that the smart glasses concept is not dead yet. Strapping internet-connected devices to your body would have seemed wildly futuristic. But now, if you look around, you will get to see smartwatches and fitness trackers everywhere.

Looks Like a Standard Pair of Glasses.

A company recently started a Kickstarter campaign for a new pair of smart glasses called Vue. But these smart glasses are a little different because they look no different from your standard pair of glasses. These are smart glasses that are designed for everyday use. These smart glasses are offered in prescription, plano, and sunglasses.

The social media company Snapchat also tried getting into the wearable market with Snap Spectacles. The spectacles that can take 10-second snaps with a touch of a button. But again, these will likely appeal more to the younger generation who get Snapchat.

Vue Is For The Masses.

But Vue Smart Glasses are here to appeal to the masses. These glasses are not just meant for those who are too young, or too much into social media. The Vue Smart Glasses has a wider audience. They are making the everyday, normal spectacles smart, rather than getting too cute or too futuristic.

Regular Glasses With Integrated Technology.

At a basic level, It functions as glasses. This means you will be able to order the lenses you depend on. Whether they are prescription, non-corrective, or sunglasses, it doesn’t matter. Vue frames come with integrated technology. So your glasses will be able to do more than meets the eye.

Gesture Control.

There is a convenient touch interface in the arm of the frames. Vue using that interface. It has no ports or buttons. This ensures that the experience is as least intrusive as possible.

Express Yourself.

You can choose from a variety of different colors, textures, and shapes to help you express your own unique style.

Bone Conduction Audio Technology.

It uses bone conduction audio technology. It is used to transfer stereo sound to your inner ear without the use of earbuds. Your ears remain unplugged. So you can listen to music, answer calls, and hear notifications all from your glasses while still being able to hear the world around you.

Charging The Vue.

The Vue is to be charged putting it into the portable charging case overnight. It will get charged automatically. With the charging case, Vue’s battery lasts up to one week.

Keeps You Safe.

Vue keeps you safe. Whether you’re a pedestrian, cyclist or driver. Vue has an open ear design. It allows you to listen to directions, music, or calls without blocking your ears. So you can still hear traffic and the world around you. If you are distracted for too long while driving, Vue alerts you. Audio and LED notifications can help to nudge you back into focus. This helps you to avoid accidents and get home safe.

Companion App.

Your frames function the way you want them to. You can make use of the companion app to pair gestures with custom actions. For example, hearing the current time, weather, activity summary, and more.

  1. Battery: The Vue has 2-3 days standby time on a single charge. It has 7 days standby with charging case. It comes with 5 hours of talk time.
  2. Audio: Vue is stereo bone conduction speakers. It has got a patent-pending sound leakage prevention design.
  3. Bluetooth: Vue comes with Bluetooth 4.2. It is compatible with all devices.
  4. Charging: It is to be charged using a wireless charging case. The minimum charging time is 2 hours. The case is charged via USB.
  5. Sensors: Vue has 6-axis accelerometer & gyroscope. It has an infrared proximity sensor and 5 fields capacitive touch pad.
  6. Water Resistant: Vue is supposed to be rain, splash and sweat-resistant.

Coming In July.

The Vue frames will be manufactured in China. While the lenses will come from the U.S. It is looking to bring its smart but practical glasses to the market in July 2017. You can pledge $179 to get your hands on a pair. The expected retail price is $269.
