BIKI is The First Bionic Wireless Underwater Drone


BIKI is the world’s first wireless bionic underwater drone. It is wireless and capable of automated balance, obstacle avoidance, and return to base. A 4K camera is also available with BIKI, by which you can visualize a different underwater view from a different perspective. It’s small in size and portable.

Underwater Drone.

We are living an era where aerial drone for civil use and various robots used for education & service on land are prevailing. However, there’s no underwater robot for consumer use, therefore, the market future of which is promising. The BIKI is designed for the purpose of lowering threshold for the utilization of underwater robot as well as reducing the operational difficulty and product cost thus present a real smart product which is ready to use as long as powering on and bring a brand new underwater experience to people.

4K Camera and Other Features.

What mentioned above led to the development of BIKI. It is the first ever wireless underwater drone in the world. Its design is based on bionic theory, which means it is mainly driven by the fin. Such application is safe enough for the operation. BIKI’s principle features include automated balance, obstacle avoidance, and return-to-base, etc. A 4K camera is also available with BIKI, by which you can visualize a different underwater view from a different perspective. It’s small in size and portable. The battery is said to last around 90-120 minutes. When it drops to 20%, it heads back to you, thanks, GPS and an IMU

Built-in GPS.

There is a big difference between BIKI and other underwater drones. It is the physical shape and design. BIKI looks like a fish. Robosea says that BIKI will move through the water at over 1 mph, and do so very quietly. It automatically sets its own buoyancy and level, which is pretty clever. Built-in GPS returns it to you if it goes out of range. Using the camera, it will avoid underwater obstacles.

Connects via WiFi.

As far as control goes, above the water, it connects via WiFi to your phone or tablet. WiFi doesn’t really penetrate water very far, so you can either program in a patrol route, or use an included underwater remote control that uses “acoustic communication technique” to work up to 33 feet. BIKI doesn’t stream video or photos from under the water. That kind of tech doesn’t really exist.

Uses of BIKI.

It is a contribution to scientific research or for the conservation of the oceans. It can be used for observation of the living habit of ocean creatures and record them by taking photos or videos. It also can be used for water quality detection by carrying a mini sensor in the water. It does not cause any pollution during the course of ocean conservation thanks to its new energy battery and the bionic energy.

Launching this September.

Robosea is claiming to launch BIKI in September of this year. If you want to back them, the price is $599 for a single BIKI. If they hit retail as planned, the price is an estimated $1,024. BIKI is claimed to be the most powerful, ecological and portable wireless underwater drone. If it works as they claim, it will be a neat little product.
