GoPro Hero5 Black

GoPro, the maker of world’s most versatile cameras which enables you to capture and share your life’s most meaningful experiences with others just made a huge announcement. Their passionate ideas have created stunning cameras like HERO, HERO3, HERO4 etc. and now it has come up with the GoPro Hero5 Black that is small and easy to mount, but with a number of improved features.

Introducing GoPro Hero5 Black

Last week, GoPro revealed its latest flagship action camera: the GoPro Hero5 Black. It has got a beautiful rubberised design, engaging features, and remarkable photography credentials. Hero5 Black is said to be GoPro’s most expensive camera which features a 2-inch touchscreen, 4K video capture at 30fps, a 12-megapixel camera, image stabilisation and GPS.

Durable Design

Hero5 Black’s advanced audio processing captures left and right stereo audio channels and picks the best sound from each microphone actively when you record.

The camera has a 2-inch touch display to preview and play back your shots, change settings, and trim your footage.

With a durable design, HERO5 Black is waterproof to 33ft without a housing.

Advance Features

  1. The Hero5 Black shoots 12-megapixel photos with 4K footage, in Single, Burst and Time Lapse modes. A single press of the shutter button powers the camera on and starts recording automatically.
  2. It can capture RAW photos that provide maximum flexibility when using advanced photo editing software. While the WDR(Wide Dynamic Range) photo mode captures in shadows and highlights in the scene.
  3. You can tune exposure settings with simple on-screen Exposure Control.
  4. It has also got GPS to capture the location where your photos and videos are taken.
  5. This camera has added support for seven languages- English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, and Japanese.
  6. You can also give commands and click a picture easily.

Easier Edits Than Ever

Alongside the camera, GoPro also officially announced GoPro Plus and its cloud connection feature. Using this feature, HERO5 Black can automatically upload photos and videos directly to the cloud for easy viewing, editing, and sharing purpose. GoPro Plus charges a $4.99 per month subscription fee, for you to share the upload the pictures on the cloud. Those files can then be accessed anywhere via GoPro’s mobile editing apps i.e. Quik and Splice.

GoPro has also released a new Quick Key fob that features a built-in SD card slot, for you to easily transfer content from your camera to your smartphone. The GoPro Plus subscription includes a library of music, as well as 20% off on any camera mounts and accessories.

Price and Availability

The camera was unveiled at the launch event of GoPro Karma drone at Squaw Valley Ski Resort in Northern California. The GoPro HERO5 Black and the HERO5 Session will be available from October 2, followed by the international markets in the beginning of January 2017. While the HERO5 Black is priced at £349.99/$399, the HERO5 Session is available at a price of £249.99/$299 – £100/$100 less than the Hero5.

Let’s Wrap Up!

The new HERO5 Black definitely has enough to make it a convincing upgrade. The picture quality with this camera is great, and it finally has video stabilization. Also, the touchscreen makes it easier to use than any other GoPro camera. The only flaw is that of GoPro Plus on which you will only be able to download the files and edit them locally. You can’t simply start editing a picture on one device and pick it up easily on another device.

With the launch of HERO5 Black, GoPro also launched Karma drone at the event, which captures amazingly smooth footage in the air, handheld to your favourite gear.
